Chicago Tri Club

Swim. Bike. Run. Play.

Welcome to the Club!

The Chicago Tri Club is 100% volunteer-run and has hundreds of members throughout Chicago. In order to get the most out of your CTC membership, please read this page to get a general overview of our club and how we operate. This should get you started!  Due to the club’s volunteer nature, it is up to each member to stay informed, and of course pitch in to help whenever they can!

We encourage members to take part in as many events as possible. The monthly meetings are a good way to get information about the club, but due to the size and nature, it may be hard to get to know individual members on a personal level. Attending group workouts, small-group clinics, and races are the real way to get to know other club members. You may also sign up to volunteer, since it gives back to the club and is a great way to connect with others.

STAY CONNECTED

MODES OF COMMUNICATIONS

Each week (usually on Tuesday mornings) we will send out an email newsletter with the week’s activities/announcements. If you would like to receive the newsletter, then please sign up here. If you no longer want to receive newsletters from us, you can unsubscribe using the link that appears at the bottom of every newsletter.  If you signed up but still don’t receive our newsletters, please check your junk folder and add us to your address book!

The group chat app and CTC Facebook page are good tools for staying up to date with club announcements, as well as finding training partners, racing buddies, and tri mentors.

MEMBER INFORMATION/PREFERENCES

Make sure to keep your address/phone number/email address, etc, updated in our membership database so we have the most current information.  Go to your Profile page and edit the fields as necessary.

Since email is our primary method of communicating with our members, please provide a current email address that you check frequently.

MEMBER PROFILES

Member profiles are a great way to introduce yourself to your fellow members.  Let us know what your athletic background is, your goals, your strengths/weaknesses, etc.

Profiles are voluntary and the only information in your profile should be information you feel comfortable sharing with the other club members.  Keep in mind that the information in the profile is separate from the membership database.  Some of it may seem redundant, but we feel that it is important to protect your personal information as much as possible.

Visit Member Profiles to view other members' profiles and edit your own profile.

EVENTS

MONTHLY MEETINGS

Tri Club monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month (with a few exceptions).  The meeting consists of a happy hour, followed by a 1-hour clinic in large-group lecture/presentation format on a tri-related topic.  So come early to the happy hour to mingle with the members, then stay late for the clinic and learn about how to improve your sport!  Also, new member and member renewal gifts may be picked up during happy hour from 6 to 7pm. Visit our Monthly Meetings Page for more information.

SMALL GROUP CLINICS

The CTC Newbie Program is a series of basic clinics, meetings, and training plans specifically designed to help first time triathletes learn the basics of each discipline within triathlon, as well as advanced clinics to help more experienced triathletes tune their sport. Visit the Newbie Program Page for more information about the program, including the full schedule of clinics.

SOCIAL EVENTS

The club has social events throughout the year.  We have a kickoff meeting in the spring with a guest speaker and food.  We also have a club party at the first major race of the season:  Galena.  We have often a pasta party for the Chicago Triathlon and finish off the year with an end of season party at the December monthly meeting.  This is where you get the end of the year schwag, trophies and yes, more food.  Throughout the summer we have other social events, mostly involving food after a group workout.  There are also baseball games, hockey games, even paintball if we can get enough people interested.  Visit our Social Events page for more information, as well as our Member Forum and Facebook Page.

TRAINING & RACING

GROUP WORKOUTS AND TRAINING PLANS

We have regular group workouts through out the year. Visit our Group Workouts Page to see all of the upcoming group workouts. If you would like to set up another workout, just post on the message board.

Each year we work with sponsors to put together training plans for new triathletes.  Check out the Newbie Program Page for details.  They are designed for the “newbie” race at Pleasant Prairie, but you can adjust the dates for any race.

RAV (RACING AND VOLUNTEERING)

RAV is the club’s program for encouraging our members to be active in the club. Members earn RAV points by volunteering for club initiatives, including racing or volunteering at club-focused races. Points will be accumulated over the season, and will earn raffle points to be used in the season-ending party.  Some very generous raffle prizes are donated by our sponsors, so make sure you begin accumulating those RAV points! Visit the RAV page for more details.

CHICAGO RACING SERIES

CTC also targets a few key races each year that the club does together as a team. Members can compete with each other at the races while volunteers coordinate logistics such as pre-race meals, meeting points, post-race festivities, and even supplies in case you forget anything!

The Chicago Racing Series races are selected based on member feedback. These are the best local races run by race directors who deserve our support. You can learn how the point system works here.  CRS winners will get trophies at our end of the year party!

CLUB UNIFORMS

Custom designed Pactimo & Voler club uniforms are available for purchase at Get a Grip cycles at 4359 W. Irving Park. This is a service that Get a Grip provides to the club for free.  To purchase our uniforms, please pay via our Square Store.  Get a Grip no longer accepts payment for any CTC merchandise, so all purchases must be made online then picked up at the store.

For those wishing to have higher-quality uniforms, we will place a team order through Castelli 1-2x/year, based on interest.
